We've been Googled

I don't know if you have all heard about the Street View feature of Goggle Maps, but Walker showed up as a street view at least a couple of months ago. If you look at the end of our street you can still see the iron pot that was stolen earlier this summer.

I can actually tell you when the street was photographed, not because I saw the deed being done, but because it caught my in-laws pickup truck on the street. It happened the weekend Cole was baptized. In fact I think it was on the day he was baptized, Sunday, September 19th 2007 because I am pretty sure I see my brother-in-law's car as well.

If you move south on Walker looking north, you will also see a car following the photography car, and a white car in the turnaround when you look south near the turnaround. I wonder if either driver reads this and recalls the car. And no, I really don't have too much time on my hands.

You can also zoom out to see what streets have been photographed. For example, not much of Anderson Township, but I see part of Wolfangel (my Parent's street, but not their part) has.

More Fire details

Building Cincinnati has further details on the Findlay Market fire as well as additional photographs from on the ground.

There are also some details over at JoeWessels.net on both fires from the fire department.

Crazy Sunday

Findlay FireNot sure who caught all the craziness on Sunday, but in addition to downed trees, lost power, and lost cable, we had fires near Findlay Market and next to Grammer's.

The first picture is the Fire in Findlay shot from our upstairs Window. I have heard that a transformer blew. One neighbor says that he heard the loud noise. I did not notice it, but Danyne called my attention to it.

In the next picture you can see it spreading down the eaves of the building.

The Firefighters had to battle strong swirling winds, but thankfully did much better than the Bengals:

Later you can see a number of ladder trucks inspecting the various buildings around Findlay.
Findlay Final

We also received a call from George down on Pueblo that Grammer's was in danger. It seems that a fire started in a neighboring building. I don't know the official word, but a friend says that they lost the roof to the rathskeller, and I would assume suffered some water damage.

Thanks to some wind-related pruning on our hillside, and some gusts of wind, I was able to get a few shots of the situation from the same window:

All in all a very busy day for Firefighters downtown...

Block Party

Deviled EggsI think most folks would agree that the Third Annual Block Party was a success. We had folks from the new houses on Sycamore and a couple of Auburn Terrace folks join us, as well as some friend from farther down Prospect Hill.

I didn't take a lot of pictures, but there are a few in this set on my flickr site.

Since I make up the invites, and collect the RSVPs I received a number of thank yous for organizing the event. To give credit where credit is due, I wanted to thank Tim, Rick and Bernie for providing the BBQ, Turkey and Roast Beef and organizing. They were supposed to let us know what our share is... but I am doubting there truthfulness (that is, they are short-changing themselves).

Also, thanks to everyone who brought dishes to share. We may have to think up another event, rather than waiting until next fall.

Riverfest 2008

Hope everyone enjoyed their Riverfest experience wherever they took it in. I got a prime spot to shot pictures, right in the neighborhood. You can check out the Riverfest 2008 pictures on my Flickr site. I actually think my Riverfest 2007 pictures were better. I should have looked through those first. Seems a smaller aperture works better for fireworks pictures.
